Retracing D.H. Lawrence’s travels in Sardinia 100 years on
When D.H. Lawrence decided to take a trip to Sardinia in 1921, he certainly would not have imagined the cultural significance of the book that followed from his journey - Sea and Sardinia.
With the support of the DH Lawrence Society of Great Britain and the literary consultancy offered by Nick Ceramella, vice president of the Society, Return to Sea and Sardinia followed in the footsteps of Lawrence's journey one hundred years later, with vivid images by the photographer-director Daniele Marzeddu.
The film retraces, step by step, the path of the English writer in contemporary key. Return to Sea and Sardinia's soundtrack is composed by Glåsbird with the friendly participation of "Coro Femminile Urisè" from Orosei - Sardinia and produced by Lincolnshire-based label WhiteLabRecs.

The journey and film
January 2021 saw the centenary of D.H. Lawrence’s documented trip that resulted in his acclaimed book, Sea and Sardinia.
Return to Sea and Sardinia has followed in the footsteps of Lawrence’s journey exactly 100 years on from the day he set out.
The project is run by Daniele Marzeddu; a multi award-winning photographer experienced in documentary filmmaking.
The centre piece of the project is the film that records Lawrence’s retraced journey - scheduled for release at arts and cultural venues across the UK and Italy.
